Skive leather evenly
This leather beveler works like an ordinary peeler. You position it at the top of the leather piece and just pull it diagonally down. This is how to skive a small layer of leather.
This tool is also called skiver.
Smooth frayed leather
Thanks to the bent blade of the beveler, you will not shave off too much leather in one go, but thin layer by thin layer until you have reached the desired thickness.
Frayed leather flesh (rough) sides can be smoothed with the beveler by slicing off the frayed parts. This leather planer is also frequently used to skive or thin out edges.
Keep the blade of the safety beveler sharp to guarantee a smooth removal. With blunt blades you will get uneven areas. Changing the blade is very easy. The matching replacement blades can be bought at PATIN-A.
