Drawing accurate lines for leather sewing
This tool is an absolute must-have to prepare your leather for sewing by hand. With the blade of the groover you can draw a precise sewing line (stitch line) in the leather piece - very important before you start piercing holes. You can also use the groover for piercing decoration lines parallel to the leather edge, which will give your leather piece an interesting look.
The tool consists of a wooden handle and a metallic device holding the cutting blade.
Different margins thanks to a regulation mechanism
Through regulating of the blade you can decide where to start the groove from the edge of the leather piece. Turn the middle of the metal part anti-clockwise to loosen the blade. Then set it at the required distance and fix the blade again, turning it clockwise.
The blade stands at an angle of 90° to the handle and through pulling the groover in a steady movement along the leather piece you will obtain straight grooves at an uniform depth.
The first of three steps to beautiful sewing results
The groove you get with the groover is just the first step of three to sewing leather.
The spacer allows you to set a uniform row of seam marks which can then be pierced with an awl to obtain the holes needed.
Only the preparatory work with the groover and the spacer ensures you get a clean, straight line of holes.
If you make grooves after dyeing you get beautiful decoration lines in the original leather tone.
