The all-round sponge for leather dyeing and patinating

These high quality make-up sponges were originally developed for make-up artists and can be used in many ways. We recommend the dyeing sponge for applying PATIN-A products and Aquacolor dyes and for leather dyeing and patinating. The round shape and fine pores prevent disturbing streaks. The edges are excellent for dyeing small areas.

How do I achieve perfect leather dyeing?

Apply the leather dye with the sponge in even circular movements. Do not simply start wildly, but work quickly from one edge with overlapping circles. The sponges can only be used for 2 to 3 passes and then dissolve. Until then they do a good job on large and small areas.
If the dyeing is uneven you can touch up to a certain extent by dabbing dye onto the under-dyed spots with the edge of the sponge.

The amount of dye matters

Be careful with the amount of dye. The sponges soak up quickly and absorb an extreme amount of dye. If you are not careful, puddles easily form on the leather. They soak up less on the first dip than on the second or third. Always wear rubber gloves when dyeing.

How to achieve darker dyeing

For a darker colour do not drown the leather in the first pass. Apply 2 or 3 coats one after the other instead. This avoids irregularities and gives a more even result.
