Liquid Kicks - Pinhole Filler Instructions

This is how you use Liquid Kicks - Pinhole Filler

Before applying, please remove all thread remnants from the holes.

Preparation:
Clean the holes or damaged parts with isopropyl alcohol (e.g. PURE 100% Alc.). Sand the area around the holes with grit 800 sanding paper. Clean again with at least 91% isopropyl alcohol. Allow the area to airdry for 30 minutes before applying LK Pinhole Filler so that the alcohol can evaporate.

Application of Pinhole Filler:
Apply LK Pinhole Filler in thin coats. Start with a light coat directly on and in the holes. The coat should be thick enough to fill the holes without leaving much excess filler on the surrounding leather. Allow the first coat to airdry for an hour. Smooth the first coat with grit 800 or 1000 sand paper. Wipe away any dust with a clean dry brush with soft bristles. Apply a second coat if necessary and repeat the sanding process.

Drying:
Allow the LK Pinhole Filler to dry for 5 hours before attempting to sand or paint it.

Application of the top coat:
We recommend to seal the LK Pinhole Filler and the surrounding area with our LK Top Coat before applying paint on the shoes. This helps to hide the repair.
Application with brush:
Use a soft bristle brush to apply a top coat and spread the sealer as thinly as possible.
Application with airbrush:
LK Top Coats can very well be applied with an airbrush with a nozzle size between 0.2mm and 0.7mm with an air pressure between 25psi and 35psi or with a mini spray gun with a nozzle size of less than 1mm.
Spray the top finish directly on the surface from a distance of 8 to 12cm with an airbrush or 10 to 20cm with a spray gun. Apply the top finish in even coats by working from side to side and from top to bottom, overlapping each previous line to create medium-wet layers. Allow the lacquer coat to dry thoroughly before proceeding with the next coat.

Working time:
As soon as the product is applied from the tube, curing begins.
A test showed that a pea-sized amount had a working time of 10 minutes before performance was affected. To extend the working time, store the unused amount with a cap or a lid. The shelf life of unopened Pinhole Filler containers has been shown to be longer than 1 year under normal conditions. The shelf life of partially used containers has been shown to be more than a month.

Productivity:
One container contains 15ml of Pinhole Filler. One tube fills more than 5000 seam holes.

Storage:
Store Pinhole Filler at temperatures between 10 and 25° C and keep it away from direct sunlight to avoid oxidation. Longterm effect of temperatures over 50° C and under 0° C destroy the product. Keep the lid closed to prevent dyring out (when not in use).

Important:
Clean all used tools immediately with water and acetone. Cleaning dried top coats requires harsh solvents or volatile paint strippers. To prevent drying, remove all traces of sealer (top coat) from your airbrush or spray gun after use!
