Liquid Kicks - Intercoat Instructions

This is how you use Liquid Kicks - Intercoat Clear Layer

LK Top Coats are top finishes made from high performance hybrid acrylic polyurethane water based resins designed for use on leather and canvas. All LK products are manufactured by Liquid Kicks themselves under very strict quality controls in Harrah (Oklahoma).

Preparation:

All paint layers under the Intercoat must be completely dry before application.
Remove thoroughly any dust particle before you start.
Do not use LK Intercoat as a base coat (there's LK Primer for that).

Application of the blocker:

Apply LK Intercoat in two to three coats with an airbrush or a soft brush.
Begin with a light top coat. After application, dry this layer quickly with a hair dryer until the surface feels dry.
Do not use a hot air gun as the Intercoat may burn!
Before applying the next layer make sure the surface feels cool. Apply the next 'medium wet' layer and dry it with a hair dryer.
Applying a third coat is only recommended if you do not want to apply further paint layers or if heavy erasing is expected.

Stencil barrier:

With LK Intercoat, extremely clean stencilling is child's play!
The use of Intercoat when working with stencils drastically reduces common problems such as lifting and bleeding.

To use Intercoat as a blocker for stencils, apply the stencil film to a prepared and dried surface.
Make sure the stencil is laid completely flat and without air pockets.
Then apply two very thin layers of Intercoat and allow to air dry for 10 minutes.
Now apply the paints to the stencilled areas and allow to dry.
Remove the stencils and apply a further light coat of Intercoat to flatten the edges of the paint (hard edges may result from the tape).

Increase the flexibility of paints and dyes:

Some paints have a binder that is too weak to be used on flexible surfaces.
To increase the strength (flexibily) of the paint, add 1 to 3 drops of Intercoat per 10 drops of paint.
Spray the paint immediately after mixing.
Intercoat is compatible with all water based lacquers.

Prevents migration:

Due to its chemical composition, Intercoat dries very quickly, building a barrier between two colours that would normally mix (e.g. pink and white).
Two or three slight coatings with Intercoat prevent different paints from mixing.

Please note:

Intercoat contains no UV blockers and is not as flexible and scratch resistant as the Liquid Kicks top coats.
Intercoat should not be used as a top coat.
