Create a rust layer on props with Dirty-Down
Dirty-Down-Spray Rust from England is for professional patinating of costumes and props fast and easy on set and make them look rusty.
Dirty-Down-Spray is used worldwide in film, theater and events.
Particularly realistic rust effects can be achieved in combination with Dirty Down Frost/Snow (see below).
Natural looking rust in seconds
It is best to apply Dirty Down Spray in several coats. Allow each coat to dry before applying another one. Depending on how strong you spray, you will obtain lighter or more covering effects. The longer you spray on a certain spot, the darker the colour tone. That way you will obtain an uneven surface that will look much more natural. You will get a great natural looking rust effect but without the roughness of real rust.
Blossoming rust surfaces in combination with Dirty-Down - Snow/Frost
If you spray on a surface that has already been treated with Dirty-Down - Snow/Frost, you will get a realistic rust structure.
Start with spraying a thin coat of Dirty-Down - Snow/Frost, then spray the surface once or twice with Dirty-Down-Spray - Rust.
Allow each coat to dry before spraying the next one.
You can apply Dirty-Down-Spray Ash Blonde and Black here and there if you wish to have darker and lighter patches and give your art work more depth.
Cleaning tips
The spray dries within seconds and is water soluble. It usually just wipes off easily with a wet cloth and some washing up liquid from smooth fabrics and can easily be washed out of costumes (but please test valuable materials beforehand!).
Test the Dirty-Down-Spray - Rust first on an invisible spot, to get used to the spray intensity and colour density and make sure it can be removed from materials . If you can't test whether the colour pigments can be removed or not, you should spray the props first with Dirty-Down - Dullingspray.
If the surface has no finish, the colour can penetrate deeply and may stain the object permanently.
For costumes too very often cleaning is not possible, Dirty-Down-Spray Rust stays permanently.
