It’s perfect for burnishing edges and small curved areas. There are four different U shaped notches so that burnishing thin leather pieces, like the edge of a belt, is as easy as burnishing thick multilayer leather projects.
Multiple use
Thanks to the elongated shape, this burnishing tool fits your hand comfortably. Use it not only to burnish but also to ‚push out‚ leather when carving with embossings. For that purpose, you can use either end of the tool, depending on the depth of the carving. The pointed tip can also be used as a stamping tool, which makes this wood slicker a really versatile leather tool.
Before and after
Before finishing the edges of your leather piece with an edge smoothing tool, you should first of all use an edge planer. This tool is also known as chamfer plane and it does good preparatory work to produce beautiful round edges.
For polishing, Fiebing’s Gum Tragacanth is the perfect choice. It’s a good finish and makes leather edges shiny, smooth and hard-wearing.
