DEKA Washing Machine Dye - the special textile dye
DEKA washing machine dye is a fantastic dye that has been specially developed for dyeing textiles in the washing machine.
It is suitable for both individual items of clothing and entire lengths of fabric and enables uniform and professional dyeing.
The dye is both wash and lightfast, so that the dyed textiles retain their brilliant colours even after repeated washing and exposure to sunlight.
Be inspired by the bright and intense colours and give your textiles a new look.
With DEKA washing machine dye, dyeing is child's play and your clothes will be a real eye-catcher.
Try it out and see the quality of this fantastic colour for yourself.
All 20 colours can be mixed with each other
• This colour is ideal for dyeing towels - intense, lightfast and washfast colours beautify your bathroom.
• The colour ‘black’ is particularly intense (considered by professionals to be the ‘blackest’ black)
• The dyeing result is very homogeneous.
• This colour can be used to dye finish-free fabrics made from natural fibres (e.g. cotton, linen, viscose, jute, ramie, bamboo) very easily.
• Wool is not suitable for dyeing in the washing machine as it felts.
• Synthetic fibres cannot be dyed or can only be dyed very lightly.
• For silk fabrics and wool, we recommend hand dyeing (with vinegar instead of salt).
What should I bear in mind when dyeing with DEKA textile dye ?
The pack contains a high-quality dyeing powder that provides an intensive dye colour and contains a special fixer to permanently fix the colour. One pack is sufficient for at least 500g of fabric, so you can dye several items of clothing or textiles at once.
The temperature for the dyeing process should be 40° or preferably 60°C (for black, always use the 60°C wash cycle).
The intensity of the final colour depends on the amount of dye and the weight of the fabric:
• Dyeing full tone: 500g fabric weight requires 1 bag of dye + 1 bag of reactant + 250g salt (we recommend PATIN-A Färbesalz)
• Pastel tone dyeing: 500g fabric weight requires ½ bag of dye + ½ bag of reactant + 250g salt
• As the colour chart on the screen is displayed in a distorted colour, you can also use the RAL colours as a guide (RAL Farbfächer is available from PATIN-A)
(This information refers to washing machines with a capacity of 5kg).
• Before dyeing, be sure to wash the finishing agent out of the fabric. Fabric softener is also a finishing agent and can affect your dyeing results.

What do I need for the dyeing ?
In addition, for one washing machine load (no matter how many packets of colour you use for dyeing) you will need:
DEKA Textil-Fit - finish remover (if the textile contains finishes):
• 250 g table salt or 250 g PATIN-A Spezial-Färbesalz
• Rubber gloves
• A container to dissolve the colour and the reaction agent (fixative
Recommendation:
DEKA Textil-Fit - Appretur Entferner (if the textile contains finishes)
Tip:
It is important to know that only fabrics with the same fibre and the same weave will have the same colouring.
Example: In a set of bed linen, the colour depth of the pillow, sheet and duvet cover may be different.

DEKA Washing Machine Fabric Dye - Dye instructions:
What you need for dyeing:
• DEKA Washing Machine Fabric Dye
• Kitchen scales (to weigh the fabric)
• Measuring cups/jug
• Stirring spoon
• Salt (dye salt)
• Rubber gloves
How to dye:
Preparation:
• Weigh the fabric (up to 500g of fabric for one packet of dye)
• Dilute the dye concentrate in approx. 2 litres of warm water (approx. 60°C)
• Dilute reactive agent in approx. 2 litres of warm water (approx. 60°C)
• Salt:
Fill 500g of salt per dye into the washing machine (intense colour tones need a bigger amount of dye salt - use less salt for light colours or pastels)
or
Dilute 500g of PATIN-A Dye Salt in warm water and pour it into the washing machine
Dyeing
• Put the textiles in the washing machine
• Set on 40° - 60° C main cycle (select the longest wash cycle - without prewash cycle!)
• Wait until the fabric is wet
• When the wash cycle begins, first add the prepared salt solution and then the dye solution through the washing powder compartment. This should be done while the drum is turning.
• After 5 minutes of dyeing, slowly pour the diluted reactive agent solution through the washing powder compartment. Add 1 litre of warm water.
• If your washing machine has a cycle shorter then 40 minutes, repeat the main wash cycle before the water is pumped.
Restarting modern electronic machines is not possible, but today for most machines the main cycle is 60 minutes at least.
• Let the main cycle run completely (you can select a low spin cycle).
• After the end of the wash cycle, leave the dyed items in the machine and wash them with a mild detergent according to the type of fabric. This will wash out the excess dye and clean the machine.
The items dyed with DEKA Washing Machine Fabric Dye should be washed separately the first two times.
After that, they can be washed with the other laundry.
Please use a mild detergent.
Interesting facts
• In the standard washing machine (with a capacity of 4.5 - 5kg) you can only dye up to 1300g of fabric.
• Stained rubber parts of the machine do not rub off and will look normal again after the next few washes.
• Do not judge the result of your dye on the wet fabric! The wet garment will always look darker then the dry one.
• Always hang the dyed items very tight to the washing line to avoid dark streaks.
• Avoid skin contact with the dye powder or the diluted dye, as this may cause allergic reactions in rare cases. Wear rubber gloves.
• Make sure to wash the fabric before dyeing. The hottest possible is best. That will remove finishings and stains.
