Urea is an important helper for batik work - in particular for tie dye batik.
It is a humectant that keeps the fabric moist for longer during the fixing process for deeper, more vibrant colours.
Fibre reactive dyes need longer to react with soda and should not dry during fixing.
Urea is recommended for use with fibre reactive dyes (z.B. Procion MX or DEKA aktuell) for painting, dyeing, printing, stamping, and other direct applications.
Per liter of dye solution for tie dye mixtures, you need approx. 55 gram of Urea (approx. 4 tablespoons).
• Use urea instead of salt to achieve great structure effects for silk painting.
• Urea can help dissolve powderlike dyes if they are difficult to dissolve.
Take warm urea water (1 tablespoon per cup) to make a paste. It helps dissolve the dye in only a little liquid and is therefore excellent for creating really concentrated solutions needed for batik and colour painting, especially for the darker shades.
Gradually add the liquid to the powder while stiring vigorously.
No, compared to many other chemicals, urea is relatively safe.
Due to its moisturing properties, urea is a main ingredient in many skin care products.
Urea (as a powder) may irritate the skin. Airborne urea should not be inhaled.
The packaging is compostable and made of renewable raw materials.
And of course, the resealable pressure seal bag is free of petroleum based plastics.
