The PATIN-A Spearmint Water (Aqua menthae crispae) in the practical 2.5 or 5 litre refill canisters is an old and proven aid for ironing. It enables the smooth ironing of hems, even on really old suit trousers or other heavy creases and folds. It can also be used to restore a beautiful fabric structure to greasy areas such as the collar area of coats and jackets.

Spearmint Water straightens up the fibers providing a standardisation of the fabric structure.
A long time before the 'invention' of new synthetic ironing aids, Spearmint Water was a popular natural ironing aid for laundry care and household linen.
A great advantage are its completely natural components which contribute to a gentle and good laundry care. Contains no colouring.
Furthermore, the fresh smell of spearmint acts as disinfectant and deodorant.
Application:
Do not dilute! (looses its effect!)
Spearmint Water is to be applied on the appropriate spots with a lint-free cloth or a soft brush (you can also use a pump spray) and ironed gently to curl up the fabric.
Can also be used in steam-iron water tanks as ironing water with a scent of mint.

Tips:
Please make sure you iron woollen materials only with a cloth or a with a teflon iron plate to prevent the material from shining! Use a thin cloth or one of our transparent ironing cloths (available in the shop) and put it over the spot you want to iron. You can then iron even delicate materials with higher temperatures without causing damage. Or just iron the garment inside-out.
Crisped Mint Water is also sold under the name of "Anti Shine Spray". Spots that have become shiny through ironing will loose their shine again with crisped mint water.
A really old, popular household remedy
Here's an extract from the widely known Meyers Encyclopedia of 1888 (Meyers Konversationslexikon - Handbuch der Drogisten-Praxis):
"The water which has been distilled with this herb (Aqua menthae crispae) is commonly used when ironing black fabrics, as it is strangely known for intensifying the colour black."
