With Jacquard Lumiere you turn fabric, leather and many other materials into metal, mother-of-pearl and iridescent shine.
The highly pigmented paints cover even on dark surfaces, feel soft and are washfast on fabric.
They do not crack, flake or break, are lightfast and weatherproof, and even hold on leather, vinyl and rubber.

Three effects
• Metallic: Shiny metal pigments provide an intense, metallic shine, for example 561 Metallic Gold, 563 Metallic Silver, 564 Metallic Copper or 565 Metallic Bronze.
• Pearlescent: an iridescent shimmer like the inside of a shell.
• Halo: an atmospheric glow created by light refraction that changes colour depending on the viewing angle, for example 555 Halo Pink Gold, 556 Halo Blue Gold and 557 Halo Violet Gold.

For costume and props
Lumiere is ideal for armour, crowns, jewellery and ornaments made of foam or Worbla, for brocade and gold effects on fabric, for patina on leather and for everything that is meant to shine in the spotlight.
Mixing and thinning
Lumiere can be mixed with Jacquard Neopaque, Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow and Jacquard Textile Color. This creates, for example, metallic shimmering shades in any colour. Lumiere becomes more transparent with Neopaque Flowable Extender, without losing adhesion. For the airbrush, there is ready-mixed Jacquard Airbrush Color Metallic.
Self-fixing
Let the painted items cure for about 4 days, after which they are washable. It is faster with heat. All details are in the “Fixing” tab.

Fixing fabric paints
Note: When using these instructions, please note that they are only general guidelines.
You can use them in conjunction with the individual manufacturer instructions that come with the various fabric paints.
Neopaque, Lumiere and airbrush paints are all “self-fixing” paints. If you leave the painted objects for about 4 days, they cure and can then be washed.
This applies to most surfaces. On completely non-porous surfaces such as plastic, it can take longer because the paint does not dry as quickly and needs longer to cure, but as a rule it is much more durable after 10 days.
This process can be accelerated by heat, i.e. by ironing or with a heat gun, once the paint has dried completely.
Drying time before fixing:
For best results, let the painted or printed fabric dry thoroughly for at least half an hour. We have found that the longest possible air-curing before heat-setting (up to two weeks!) in a warm, dry environment gives the best results. For faster drying, place the fabric under a lamp and then heat-set it. Heat-setting locks the paint into the fibres and allows normal washing.
Tumble dryers:
We generally do not recommend household tumble dryers, as most do not get hot enough. Commercial dryers set to a minimum temperature of 250° for 45 minutes should be sufficient. Be sure to preheat the dryer.
Fixing with an iron:
When heating with an iron, it is important to note that temperatures vary from iron to iron. If you use an iron, preheat it to the highest temperature that is safe for the fabric. Place aluminium foil on the ironing board with the painted side of the fabric facing down. Press the iron onto the back of the fabric for at least 15 to 25 seconds before moving on to the next area.
Alternatively, you can use a pressing cloth if you feel the need to iron directly on the painted side. Repeat the process without the pressing cloth on the unpainted side at the highest temperature suitable for your fabric (note: a longer air-curing time of 5 to 7 days is recommended with this method).
For professionals only:
Using a commercial conveyor oven: 350° for 3 minutes, two passes if necessary. The fabric should feel hot to set the colours.
NOTE: The optimal time and temperature needed for proper curing depend on the fabric, the coverage, the equipment and in particular the instructions of the various paint manufacturers.
Please do not try this in a domestic oven!
Jacquard Lumiere: Frequently asked questions
Does Lumiere cover on dark fabric?
Yes, thanks to the high pigmentation. On very dark surfaces, it is best to apply two thin coats.
Do I have to fix Lumiere?
No, Lumiere fixes itself after about 4 days. It is faster with heat, for example ironing from the reverse side.
What is the halo effect?
Halo paints shimmer in a second colour depending on the viewing angle, for example pink with a gold shimmer. The effect is created by light refraction.
Can I use Lumiere on foam and Worbla?
Yes. For foam, a primer is recommended so that the paint does not soak in too much.
Does Lumiere last outdoors?
Yes, Lumiere is lightfast and weatherproof.
