Lace Maker Tool
Make your own leather straps
The simplest and most cost-effective way to produce leather straps yourself.
All you need is the Lace Maker Tool and a piece of leather - the leather straps are made almost by themselves.
Leather cutting is as simple as that
Please note that cutting straps does not work with soft leather!
Take a strong, solid piece of leather (e.g. saddler's leather) and fold it exactly in the middle.
Use sharp scissors to cut a semicircle into the middle of the fold (when unfolding a circular hole becomes visible).
Place the lace maker into the hole and "thread it" into one of the grooves. The sharp side of the blade is inside the tool - the blunt side can be seen outside.
The sharp side points outwards and the blunt side to you.
Now just push the tool (it cuts into the leather) while turning the leather piece a little.
As soon as the leather strap becomes visible, grab it with your fingers and pull on the strap. Let go of the leather piece. It will turn by itself while cutting and you will get a long, even string of leather.
With a bit of practice you will soon cut perfect straps.
