Jacquard Airbrush Clear Extender: more transparency for your airbrush colours
Sometimes the paint is too thick for the fine nozzle. Sometimes it should let the surface show through.
But diluted with water, it loses adhesion.
The Jacquard Airbrush Clear Extender is a clear, unpigmented binder. It makes the paint more transparent and more economical without weakening adhesion.
And it can do even more: it makes craft acrylic suitable for fabric, protects painted surfaces and binds pigments into your own colours.

Four uses
• For thinning: Jacquard and other thick acrylic paints become sprayable, even for fine nozzles under 0.21 mm.
• As a textile medium: Artist and craft acrylic paints become more washfast and durable on fabric.
• As a protective layer: as a clear intermediate or top coat on all paintable surfaces.
• As a binder: Mix pigment powders such as Pearl Ex into it and make your own colours.

How to get very good results with Jacquard's Airbrush Color
Surface preparation:
All surfaces must be clean.
Fabrics must be washed, and dirt, wax, coatings and care products must be removed from leather.
Non-porous surfaces such as metal and plastic may need to be lightly sanded. Bare metal may require a primer.
For a long service life, the airbrush paint must be overcoated with a clear varnish on hard surfaces.
Application:
Apply in light, even layers. Avoid oversaturating the surface.
Use a pressure of approx. 40 psi, and the nozzle size should not be less than 0.5 mm.
The colours can be mixed with each other so that you can obtain a complete colour palette.
On hard surfaces you can fix the heat-resistant paint with a heat gun. On fabric, iron with a dry iron at the appropriate setting for 30 seconds to fix.
Varnishing instructions (optional): After the airbrush paint has dried completely, spray the clear varnish on in a thin, even layer. Repeat this (if desired) once the first layer has dried thoroughly.
Airbrush tips
• Before you start your airbrush work, check that all your equipment is working properly. Check whether the needle or nozzle is bent and replace it if necessary. Make sure the compressor is working correctly and the air pressure is set appropriately.
• Make sure you are using the correct nozzle size, especially with the metallic colours.
• Do not leave the colours unused in the airbrush for too long, so that the paint does not dry in the airbrush. Put caps on the bottles when not in use so that they do not dry out.
• Dilute the colours with water if you need a thinner colour.
• Be sure to clean your equipment thoroughly as soon as you have finished.
• Transparent colours work best on white and light surfaces.
• Opaque and metallic colours work on both light and dark surfaces.

Why not just water?
Water dilutes, but weakens adhesion. The extender is itself a binder and retains adhesion and flexibility.
How much extender may I add?
As much as it takes to reach the desired transparency and sprayability. Briefly test the mixture on a scrap of fabric.
Does it also work with other acrylic paints?
Yes. It makes artist and craft acrylic paints sprayable and more durable on fabric.

Mein neuester Kauf: Der Extender macht aus den Airbrushfarben von Jacquard tolle transparente Farben.
Ich bin begeistert von transparenten Metallicfarben. Wahrscheinlich sehen alle Farben der Airbrushpalette toll aus.
