The Guppyfriend wash bag is the first viable solution to microplastic pollution from washing synthetic clothes.
It prevents microplastic fibres from entering rivers and oceans.
During washing, the broken-off fibres are deposited in the corners of the washing bag and can easily be removed and disposed of.

The Guppyfriend is specially designed to retain microplastic particles that can end up in wastewater during the washing of synthetic clothes and ultimately in the oceans.
When garments made of synthetic materials are placed in a Guppyfriend bag and then washed, the detached microplastics accumulate in the bag instead of being released into the wastewater.
This means less microplastic ends up in the oceans, reducing the risk to marine life and ecosystems.
However, it is important to note that the Guppyfriend and similar products alone are not enough to solve the problem of the pollution in the world's oceans.
It is also important that we become more conscious of our consumption habits and strive to buy less synthetic materials as well as wear our clothes longer and wash them less often.

Washing instructions against microplastic pollution
Synthetic garments lose plastic particles. In particular when washing, broken-off plastic fibres get into the wastewater and so far cannot be filtered out efficiently.
The microplastic particles get into the sea, accumulate toxins and are ingested by fish and other marine life. The plastic from our clothes thus ends up on our plates and harms not only nature but also us.
Instructions for use:
• Fill ⅔ of the Guppyfriend Washing Bag – so that the textiles can move in the bag.
• Add other (non-synthetic) textiles or a second filled GUPPYFRIEND Washing Bag - to avoid an imbalance.
• Wash at 40° max.
• Use liquid or natural detergents without plastics.
• Remove coarse dirt or animal hair before washing.
• Slide the zip into the designated “garage” at the end of the zip.
Please avoid:
• Rinsing under running water – so that the collected microplastic fibres are not washed into the environment.
• Co-washing with sharp-edged objects - in order not to damage the material.
• Ironing – this could also damage the material (the crumpled surface is not a problem).
• Using the laundry dryer – broken-off fibres could get out of the bag.
• Hanging/drying in direct sunlight - this could also damage the material.
