Fiebing's Tan-Kote

A resin-based leather finish
Tan-Kote is a very good leather finish that works as a varnish and protects your leatherworks (hallmarking, stamping etc.) from dirt and stains.
The result is a protective dirt resistant finish with a mild glow.
The finish is resin-based. Resin is a natural dehydrated product.
A wide range of applications
The original Fiebing's Tan-Kote® can be used as a basic protection or as a varnish on Fiebing's Antique Finish.
You can use Tan-Kote to liquefy Fiebing's Antique Finish with very good results. Mix 20% of Tan Kote with 80% of Antique Finish - the colour "mash" that you will obtain is very easy to apply.
It is also a very good finish for leather dyes - Fiebing's Leather Dyes or Fiebing's Professional Oil Dye.
Or just use it pure on natural leathers.
This product is often used by manufacturers of watchbands and belts and by saddlers.
Even application for a beautiful result
Apply Tan-Kote in an even coat using a sheep skin, a wool dauber, a paint brush or a sprayer.
If you spray the finish, you will have to dilute it with water previously.
It is very important to allow each coat to dry thoroughly (for 24 hours approx.) before applying the next one.
A variety of colour tones with Fiebing's Institutional Leather Dye
Tan-Kote is very good to conceal stains and leather irregularities.
Fiebing's Tan-Kote is the saddler's favourite finish, as the saddle can be cleaned and oiled on a regular basis.
The finish is neutral, but you can dye it any tone you like by adding a small (!) amount of a water soluble Fiebing's leather dye. Use Fiebing's Institutional Leather Dye for that purpose.

Watch is good as new!
Had a project to restore an old watch I got in a charity shop, thought I'd give this a whirl. Gave it such a lovely finish, keep getting loads of compliments on my "new" watch. Thanks so much for the advice on the site, it was super helpful!
