Dyeing and finishing leather with the sponge

• Apply the leather dye with the sponge in even circular movements. Do not just scribble wildly, but work quickly from one edge with overlapping circular movements.
• The sponges do very good service on large areas. Small items can also be dyed with them if you work with the edge.
• If the dyeing result is uneven, you can dab a little more dye onto the leather with the edge.
• Keep in mind: for an opaque, even colour surface, the leather needs two coats.
• Be careful with the amount of dye! The sponges are very absorbent and fill quickly with dye, which leaves puddles on the leather if you work improperly.
• These sponges are also excellent for finishing.

Tips

• Sponges can be cut very well with scissors to carry out fine dyeing work.
• For a dark colour, it is better to apply 2 or 3 coats one after the other, as this prevents colour irregularities.
• Wear rubber gloves for dyeing. Otherwise your skin takes on the same shade as your piece of leather.
