How and what does DEKA 'aktuell' dye

DEKA 'aktuell' is a very colour intensive dye for machine or hand dyeing, suitable for silk and all plant fibres like cotton, linen, batist, ramie and viscose. You will achieve very even results and the fabric will be light fast and boil proof. All shades can be mixed. The colour 'black' is particularly intensive!
DEKA 'aktuell' is a reactive colour, i.e. it works only with a reactive agent. Without reactive agent the colour cannot be fixed and the intensity of the pigments does not fully show!
Reactive colours can also be used for dyeing at low temperatures (40°C).

What should I keep in mind when dyeing with DEKA 'aktuell' ?

•  Dyeing in a pot: the content of the pack (10g of dye) will suffice for 150g (full tone) to 250g (quarter tone) of fabric weight.
• Dye temperature is 30°- 60°C, depending on fabric type. 
• Dye time: 30 - 60 minutes, depending on colour depth (black or dark blue can be left for 3 hours or overnight in the dye liquor for a very deep dye).
As the colour tones do not show well on the screen, it is best to refer to the RAL colour chart - we carry the original RAL colour chart in our web shop.

In addition to one pack of DEKA aktuell I need:

• 150 g of salt for dyeing in a pot or 500 g of salt for machine dyeing (Dye Salt or plain iodine free table salt)
• 1 pack (20g) of reactive agent 'aktuell' - this is a fixative and not contained in the pack

Recommendation:

• DEKA Textil-Fit Finishing Remover (if the textile contains finishings)
• Rubber gloves
• Rubber gloves for kids: latex gloves in XS

Hint:

• Softener is also a finishing and can influence your dye result if not rinsed.
• If you want to dye silk you only need 10g of reactive agent 'aktuell' and instead of salt you should use 125ml of vinegar essence.

• Wool can also be dyed with DEKA aktuell (just like silk), however the result will not be as good as with special wool dyes e.g. Jacquard Acid Dye.

TIE-DYEing and batik dyeing with DEKA 'aktuell':

With DEKA 'aktuell' textile dye you can very easily tie dye yourself - as shown on Youtube (just click on 'Tie-Dye') - and which is very popular in the USA.
You can also fill the colour, having previously dissolved it in 500ml of water, in a plastic bottle with a nozzle and spray it directly on the fabric. This is much cheaper than buying liquid dye. 
Wash bottles are also available in our shop.

Instructions for dyeing with DEKA Textile Dye 'aktuell'

The following instructions are for use of 10g of DEKA Textile Dye 'aktuell' and 20g of DEKA Textile Dye 'aktuell' reactive agent for 150-250g fabric weight. Dyeing temperature: 30°C-60°C, depending on fabric. Dyeing time: 30-60 minutes, depending on colour depth. The fabric should float loosely in the dye lot and always be fully immerged.

1. Fabric must be finish free and stain free (softener is also a finish). To remove finish completely we recommend DEKA TextilFit.
2. Dissolve dye thoroughly in 1/2 liter of hot water.
3. Fill a large plastic container with 3 liters of hot water, dissolve 150g of kitchen salt while stirring and add the prepared dye solution.
4. Wet the fabric, squeeze it, put it wet in the dye lot and stir well. (wear rubber gloves)
5. Dissolve DEKA reactive agent (20g) thoroughly in 1/2 liter of hot water.

Beware: when dyeing silk use only half the amount of reactive agent but the same amount of water! After 5 minutes dyeing add the dissolved reactive agent slowly stirring to the dye bath. Then keep moving and shifting the fabric well in the dye bath, all the time while dyeing. Results from dyeing are dependent on the amount of powder in the dyebath, the amount of dyeing time, the temperature of the dyebath, and the fabric used, as well as other factors.

6. Rinse the fabric thoroughly after dyeing until the water runs clear. Then wash using a mild detergent in the washing machine at gentle cycle at 30°C.

Please pay attention to our technical sheets and folders for detailed instructions - also for dyeing in the washing machine.

Avoid skin contact with concentrated dye. Allergic reactions may occur in rare cases. Wear rubber gloves. Do not inhale dye. Keep out of the reach of children. In case of eye contact rinse immediately and thoroughly.

Ich habe für ein Stoff-Projekt DEKA-Aktuell bestellt. Wie man es sich wünscht

Ich habe tie-dye-farben gekauft. Cool fand ich, dass es dazu ein Video gab! Und ein laaanges FAQ zu tie-dye farben. Versand ging schnell und die Farben kommen aus Deutschland - im Gegensatz zu anderen Farben, die meist aus China kommen.

Soviel Spaß für so wenig Geld

Letztes Wochenende fünf Kinder mit denen meiner Schwester. Gott sei Dank hatte ich vorgesorgt. Alles was zum tie dye nötig war stand bereit und wir hatten soviel Spaß. Heute sind die letzten T-Shirts fertig geworden. Eine Farborgie. Die Kinder sind begeistert und wollen nach Corona mit ihren Freunden weiter batiken.

Happy

Wir hatten schon länger vor, einmal Tie-Dye auszuprobieren. Das Highlight der Geburtstagsparty meines Sohns (10 Jahre) wurde das Färben von T-Shirts. Wir konnten damit alle Kinder glücklich machen - jeder durfte was tolles, selbstgemachtes mit nach Hause nehmen. Und ich habe mit den Farbresten etliche Tücher und Bettwäsche gefärbt. Die Flaschen sollten nicht größer als 500ml sein, sonst haben Kinder Schwierigkeiten sie zu halten. Planen sie unbedingt für den nächsten Kindergeburtstag Tie-Dye ein - es wird unvergesslich ? Danke PATIN-A, dass ihr so schnell liefert.

Magnifiques t-shirts

En furetant sur internet je suis tombée sur ce site - trilingue - et me suis lancée dans le tie dye avec mes enfants. J'ai suivi pas à pas toutes les recommandations du blog et nous avons réalisé de magnifiques t-shirts pour cet été. Les enfants étaient ravis. Tie-Dye - Was für ein Spass

Was kann man gegen die Langweile beim Hausarrest während der Coronakrise tun? Ich habe mit meinen Kindern Tie-Dye ausprobiert und wir hatten einen ganzen Nachmittag viel Spass und am nächsten Tag auch noch - beim auswaschen und begutachten der gefärbten Stücke. Wir haben T-Shirts, Handtücher, Kopfkissen und Laken gefärbt und sind super begeistert von dem Ergebnis. Ich kann jedem empfehlen, dies für Geburtstagspartys oder einfach so einzuplanen. Meine Kinder im Alter von 6 bis 14 Jahren waren wirklich begeistert und haben ohne murren mitgemacht. Wir werden das garantiert nochmal wiederholen! Batiken ausprobiert und begeistert

Wir haben eine Grundausstattung erworben: Batikfarben (Deka aktuell), Reaktionsmittel, Spritzflaschen. Meine Batikerfahrung liegt 40 Jahre zurück, doch meine Tochter wollte unbedingt mal Tye-Dye ausprobieren. Und mit dieser Ausrüstung, unter Anleitung des Videos von Marta, hat es super funktioniert. Die Ergebnisse sind tatsächlich besser als erwartet. Natürlich waren wir selber noch kreativ und haben experimentiert. Was dabei herauskam macht süchtig auf mehr. Wir gehen jetzt auf Flohmärkte und suchen günstige weiße Kleidungsstücke :). Das Schöne ist nämlich, dass die Farben sehr ergiebig sind und wir noch was in den Spritzflaschen übrig haben!
