Two-tone effect with Fiebing's Antique Finish

The Fiebing's Antique Finish creates a soft, shimmering patina and highlights the embossing or grain of the leather. A beautiful two-tone effect is created. Antique Finish is also used as an additional finish for dyeing with Leather Dye or Professional Oil Dye to give the leather a natural and stronger look, as dyed leather often looks too "pure". For black dyeing, an aftertreatment with Antique Finish Black is recommended to achieve deep colour saturation.

How and why do you use leather patina?

Apply Antique Finish with a cloth or the Fiebing's wool dauber (wool brush). The original leather colour may be slightly dissolved, which makes it possible to achieve the different effects. Thanks to the wide choice of colours, Harley-Davidson saddles and other elaborate tooling work (bags, wallets, key rings, knife sheaths, arm and leg guards and more) can be enhanced very nicely. Tooling work without these highlights does not work.

Aftertreatment and recommendation

Fiebing's Antique Finish is not waterproof and should be aftertreated with a Fiebing's finish, for example Resolene, Carnauba Cream, Leather Sheen or Leather Balm with Atom Wax.
Fiebing's recommends mixing this product with Fiebing's Tan-Kote Neutral, as this gives better results (20% Tan-Kote and 80% Antique Finish). This makes the Antique Finish easier to spread.
