Sew leather - the american way

The automatic Sewing Awl is a classic hand sewing machine which can be used not only for sewing but also for stitching holes in leather and/or widen them.
The thread roll clamped in the tool has a natural thread tension and the tool is easy to use.
The needle respectively awl is safely stored under the locking device in the awl haft. That protects against bending or breaking.
You do not need a tool to change the needle or the yarn spool.

Before sewing

Before you start sewing or pricking holes, old or dry leather should always be soaked in water. This softens the leather and makes sewing much easier.

At the lower end of the sewing awl there is a metal cap. This can be pulled out (simply prick with a thin object e.g. screw driver into one of the holes to pull the metal part out of the wooden shaft). The yarn spool is located in the metal clamp.
The yarn is threaded through a hole in the wooden shaft and guided to the needle. Replacement needles are available here in the shop.
